Simon Safety provide Personal Floatation Device (PFD) or Lifejacket servicing and are an MCA approved Service Station located in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire alongside the UK's largest Oil & Gas port.

We recommend your lifejackets should be serviced every 12 months by a qualified and approved service centre.

Servicing includes:

  • Check for wear of outer cover
  • Inflation and testing of the air bladder - 12 hour inflation test
  • Checking for corrosion of the gas cylinder
  • Weighing of the gas cylinder
  • Checking of inflation mechanism
  • Replace any time expired equipment
  • Re-packing of the lifejacket
  • Issue of certification.

Simon Safety's specialism in Personal Protective Equipment and Marine Safety stretches across many industries such as Commercial and Inshore Fishing, Offshore Energy, Oil and Gas, Petrochemical Refining, Wind Farm Operations, Port Authorities, Public Sector Authorities, Coastguard Rescue and Fire Rescue emergency services together with sub-contractors working with such industries and in high hazard sectors, on or over water.

MCA Marine Guidance Note MGN499 (M) states that Life-saving appliances should be regularly serviced at an approved service station. An 'approved service station' is one that has been formally accredited by the manufacturer and has been approved by the National Administration (in the UK this is the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) on behalf of the Secretary of State). It has certified personnel who have been trained to undertake servicing and repairs, and also to repack lifejackets ready for operational use; it carries genuine spares and is kept fully informed of the current servicing procedures by the manufacturer.

Simon Safety is an authorised Mullion Service Station and approved by the Maritime Coastguard Agency on behalf of the Secretary of State.

How do I get my lifejacket to you?

Simon Safety provide the full Inspection, servicing and testing of Lifejackets and PLB's throughout North, Mid, South and West Wales and it could not be simpler for fishermen or the leisure users to return their lifejacket for servicing.

Simon Safety are licenced via the Royal Mail and offer a tracked return service for Lifejackets from any Post Office in the UK. When a customer needs to return their Lifejackets to us for servicing, we provide them with our unique licence number and they just have to drop the lifejacket off at any of the 11,500 registered Post Office branches across the UK. It is such a simple system and the safety equipment is automatically returned to us within 24 hours for servicing and returned back to an individual's address within 48 hours. Alternatively Lifejackets can be dropped off or collected from our Trade Counter and Showroom facilities near to the Milford Haven Port.

Registering a PLB

Simon Safety provide the full service and also manage the complete Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) pre-registration with the MCA to support individual fishermen / applicants in accordance with the Merchant Shipping (EPIRB Registration) Regulations SI 2000, No. 1850 and Merchant Shipping Notice 1816 (M&F) - Mandatory Registration of Electronic Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs), prior to delivery. Should the need arise to provide training, Simon Safety also offer this service and are able to visit any location across Wales and the UK to deliver safety awareness and Lifejacket training on site. Alternatively at our HQ and Authorised Service Centre in Milford Haven we are able to offer a fully equipped training suite and classroom facility to deliver training.
